Malanka is a Ukrainian holiday that marks the end of the old year according to the Julian calendar. It is celebrated on the night of 13–14 January, and the name comes from Saint Melania. Traditionally, it is an evening of music, dancing, costumed revelers, and New Year’s wishes.

You can welcome the New Year twice—and the second time is often the most fun.
